AGES AND LEVELS OF HORSES FOR SALE ~~~ |
T
he fourth generation of Schaffers, Dewey's children and spouses, including
Emily and Guy Smith; Cole and Sarah Schaffer; Jake Schaffer; and Hayley Schaffer,
have continued to raise solid, ranch raised quarter horses with similar backgrounds
as to those raised by their grandfather, Larry Schaffer. At the heart of the breeding
program remain the bloodlines of Triple Goldrush, who was an AQHA Champion, a
High Point Working Cow Horse; and received 21 halter points and 140 performance
points in 10 events. The
operation's home-raised stallion, Pattys Sun Pat, is a Triple Goldrush and Sun
Frost grandson mixing the past with the present and producing, time and again,
horses that are quick and willing to learn, with the athleticism needed to make
great performance horses. We
have also used some amazing outside stallions, including: A Streak of Fling, Feature
Jack, Gunnin to Play, Snickelfritz Flake, Dakota Drift, Four Gill, and Nu Cash
Cow. Ranch
raised quarter horses are used on a daily basis at the Schaffer operation, and
every performance horse has his/her
start as a working ranch horse. Among us, we have been fortunate to find success
in the rodeo arena throughout our lives with championships ranging from the high
school to professional level. - Emily
Smith and Hayley Schaffer hold 5 Nebraska High School Rodeo Association All Around
titles among them, as well as numerous individual event titles ranging from goat
tying to cutting to barrel racing. Emily also qualified three times to the College
National Finals Rodeo.
- Cole
Schaffer was also a Nebraska High School Rodeo event champion (steer wrestling)
and won the Team Roping and All Around Championship titles in the NIRA's Central
Rocky Mountain Region.
- Guy
Smith was the NIRA's Southwest Region Champion Calf Roper, an 8-time qualifier
to the Canadian National Finals Rodeo, and was a member of the Canadian Olympic
Rodeo Team at Salt Lake City.
Our
experiences and continued interests in training and competition, have provided
us with the foresight to determine if a horse has the potential to excel in the
rodeo arena, as well as on the ranch. Please
have a look at the wide range of horses we have offered on this page and feel
free to call:
Cole at (308)520-4400 Guy at (580)481-0715 or
Emily at (580)563-2599 for more information.

DMAC ASSASSIN 2001 Bay Gelding

This
nice gelding suffered a stifle injury in the spring of 2009. For this reason,
we know that he will not pass a vet check and that he will need some maintenance
from time to time. However,
he still gives 110% when asked. He
is nice in the roping pen and would make a great breakaway horse or practice calf
horse. As well, he's had steers jumped off of him and he really shines in this
event.
As
you can see from the video, he's got a lot of speed. We are asking $5000 for him,
as is.
Please call Guy at 580-481-0715 if you have further questions.

GIMME FIVE 2006 POA Gelding
"Gimme
Five" is a sweet little pony that is very easy to love. He's never offered
to buck and does not have a 'bad-pony-attitude'. He's
got a very nice handle on him, and will do all that is asked of him. Not quite
"gee-haw" broke yet
he takes everything his rider tells him to
do literally. He's
started on the barrels and makes a nice little run. However, he is not automatic.
We've swung a rope on him a handful of times. $2500

ABBY BANDAROS 2000
Bay Mare
A nice mare out of one of the best performance and producing mares Schaffer Ranches
ever raised (Tripps Abby).
"Pumpkin" is a stout mare that is
gentle enough for a kid to ride, yet fully capable of working up to par for a
more experienced horseman/cowboy. She
was used primarily as a ranch horse in big Nevada ranch country in her earlier
years. Since the summer of 2006 she has been as a breakaway and goat horse at
the amateur and college level. She's
easy to rope off of and has absolutely no qualms in the corner. She's a run-by
style goat horse. | |
| FROSTED
MONTANA aka "DUPREE" 2001 Feature
Frosty x Sandy Ragetta

Dupree is nicely started in the barrels and is ready to hit the road.
He
has a lot of speed and nice rate going into the barrels. He has been hauled to
rodeos and has no fits or tantrums.
Needs a rider looking to win! |

SR
MISS TRIPLE GUN 2005 Red Dun Mare
This
ratey little lady has a lot of potential and athleticism."Toots" is
easy to get along with and very willing. She was started right and used as a working
ranch horse before she moved to the arena.
She
makes a pretty pattern in the barrels and we're adding more speed each day. It
wouldn't take much to make her into a nice little rope horse either. She's tracked
cattle and roped plenty in the pasture. |

CORKS BLUE FRITZ 2005 Red Roan
Gelding
Sired
by Craig Haythorn's "Crunch" and out of our good mare "Roanie"
(DOCS BLUE CORKEY), "Fritz" is a deep-bodied horse with a lot of talent.
He
is a half brother to Cole's good horse "VooDoo". He's roped many in
the pasture - cows, rates, and works rope. Sorted, packed calves, been to brandings,
just a good horse to ride to get any job done. Smooth riding with a good walk
in any direction.
We moved him to the arena in the Fall of 2009 where we started him on barrels
and tracking cattle. Running barrels, he's got a real easy-to-ride style, but
packs a lot of power.
